About the artist and their art:
Paul rotates between an array of subject matter – frank and intense observational studies, often of flowers or plants, or flights of imagination, fantasy and memory. A fascination with Vikings as a child led to an interest in travel - paintings of palm trees on distant shores under agitated, ominous skies, will appear alongside drawings of the family piano, or even abstract works, where shapes interact with line and colour, coalescing and vibrating. Paul has a very expressive, natural style and works in a range of traditional mediums, particularly oil and acrylic paint, and oil pastel.
