Meet The Team

Our team works together to support Artbox's creative community and create opportunities for learning disabled and autistic artists.

Artbox artists are also an important part of our team, welcoming and supporting other artists, co-facilitating creative activities and helping to shape how Artbox develops.

Katie Parsons

Art Facilitator & Community Impact Coordinator

Hi, I’m Katie. I’m an artist, mum of two and a lover of bright colours. I studied at Wimbledon School of Art and Central Saint Martins, and have a varied creative background spanning journalism, radio, advertising and art education.

I first joined Artbox as a volunteer in 2022. I now facilitate Studio Sessions and develop opportunities for artists to take on leadership roles and contribute to the wider Artbox community. I love getting to know artists’ interests and encouraging experimentation with different materials and techniques.

Georgina George-Scott

Co-Director & Safeguarding Lead

Hi, I’m Georgina, Co-Director at Artbox. My background is in finance and strategy, and I’ve worked across the public, charity and arts sectors.

At Artbox, I lead on finance and fundraising and work closely with artists and their families, as well as building relationships with people and organisations who support our work.

I also have a first-class degree in Fine Art, so I love being part of an organisation where creativity is at the heart of what we do.

Kathleen Lodge

Studio Manager & Safeguarding Lead

Hi, I’m Kath. I first joined Artbox as a volunteer in 2024 and am now the Studio Manager. I studied Fine Art at Glasgow School of Art and love helping to make the studio a welcoming, well-organised place where artists can create and connect.

My own creative practice explores people and their relationship to home and place, often through working with communities and listening to their experiences. I bring that same interest in people, listening and creativity to my role at Artbox. Outside work, I also enjoy creative writing.

Madeline Alterman

Co-Director, Founder & Safeguarding Lead

Hi, I’m Madeline. I founded Artbox in 2011, bringing together my background in art, psychology and the charity sector. Growing up with a younger brother with learning disabilities also shaped my understanding of inequality, belonging and the importance of people being valued for who they are.

I now focus on leading and developing Artbox, while staying closely connected to the studio and our artists. Outside Artbox, I go to a ceramics studio each week – a chance to switch off and focus entirely on making.

Jonathan Small

Creative Producer & Art Facilitator

Hi, I’m Jonathan. I’m a visual artist and work at Artbox as Creative Producer and Art Facilitator. I studied Fine Art at Wimbledon College of Art and later took part in the Turps Banana Studio Programme.

At Artbox, I support artists in Studio Sessions and develop creative projects, exhibitions and opportunities for artists to share their work. My own practice includes painting, drawing and printmaking, and I also enjoy making music and pottery.

Lizzie

Access Officer & Creative Coach

Hi, I’m Lizzie. At Artbox, I work across access, communication and creative support, helping to make sure artists can take part in ways that work for them.

I work closely with artists to understand their individual communication and access needs, and also provide 1:1 creative support. I enjoy finding different ways for artists to communicate their ideas, make choices and develop their creative practice.

Charlotte Joseph

Art Facilitator

Hi, I’m Charlotte. I first joined Artbox as a volunteer and now work as an Art Facilitator. I’m also a freelance graphic designer and studied design at Central Saint Martins.

My own creative practice combines illustration, typography, digital graphics and photography, and I love experimenting with different techniques and styles. At Artbox, I enjoy getting to know each artist’s interests and supporting them to explore their own ideas and ways of making.

Laura Calloni

Riso Tutor & Design Worker

Hi, I’m Laura. I’m a visual artist from Italy and studied Printmaking in Florence before completing an MA in Visual Communication at the Royal College of Art.

My own practice explores different materials and processes, with a particular love of printmaking and book arts. At Artbox, I enjoy sharing that curiosity and supporting artists to experiment, explore their ideas and develop their own ways of making.

Toyin

Studio Assistant & Co-Facilitator

Toyin first joined Artbox as an artist in 2014 and became our Studio Assistant in 2022. She plays an important role in the day-to-day running of the studio, carrying out health and safety checks, organising materials and preparing and dispatching artwork sold through our online shop.

Toyin also helps welcome new artists and volunteers, showing them around the studio and helping them get settled. Alongside her paid role, she continues to develop her own creative practice as an Artbox artist.

When asked what she is most proud of in her role, Toyin says it's being “Toyin Possible” – making everything possible

Hi, I’m Natalia. I’m an artist and researcher from Medellín, Colombia, with a background spanning neuroscience, philosophy and fine art.

Sarah Parkes

Hi, I’m Sarah. I have a background in arts management and have worked across finance, administration, project management and producing roles in the arts and higher education.

At Artbox, I support our finance, administration and systems, helping things run smoothly behind the scenes. I’m passionate about making the arts more accessible and the positive impact creativity can have on people and communities.

I also love a colour-coded spreadsheet and finding ways to make systems and processes work better!

Amy Rose Barnes

Hi, I’m Amy. I’m a visual artist and Art Facilitator, with a background in working creatively with a wide range of communities. I studied at Wimbledon College of Art and have worked with arts organisations including the Royal Academy of Arts and Dulwich Picture Gallery.

My own practice centres around abstract drawing and collage, inspired by natural forms, lines and patterns. I love how facilitating and making inform one another, and really enjoy being part of Artbox’s creative community.

Esther Harbord

Job Coach and Creative Coach

Hi, I’m Esther. I’m a multidisciplinary artist working across sculpture and performance, and studied Fine Art at Arts University Bournemouth.

My practice explores art as a way of communicating and connecting with our physical and emotional experiences, often using everyday materials, objects and the body. At Artbox, I enjoy finding new ways to support and inspire artists to explore their own ideas and creativity.

Violet

Artbox Artist, Studio Volunteer & Co-Facilitator

Hi, I’m Violet. I’m an Artbox artist, Studio Volunteer and Co-Facilitator. My artwork is inspired by spirituality, the afterlife and cats, as well as my Cypriot heritage and an interest in ancient Greek and Egyptian culture.

Alongside developing my own artwork, I support other artists in Studio Sessions and co-facilitate creative workshops. I’ve also led workshops outside Artbox, sharing my artwork and ideas with people in different organisations and communities.

I enjoy helping other artists with their work and sharing my own creative practice with others.

Rebecca Fenton

Creative Producer, Multimedia Projects

Hi, I’m Rebecca. I’m a creative producer with a background in storytelling, content development and programme management, including roles at Audible, Lime Pictures and Worldreader.

At Artbox, I work on multimedia projects, including our programme of artist-led films, helping artists share their work, ideas and experiences with wider audiences. I’m passionate about creating opportunities for voices that aren’t always heard and using storytelling to build confidence, agency and connection.

Enya Prince

Hi, I’m Enya. I’m an artist from Madrid with a background in psychology and cognitive neuroscience, and I’m currently studying Fine Art at Goldsmiths.

I first joined Artbox as a volunteer and now work as a Creative Coach, providing 1:1 support to artists. My own practice includes painting and ceramic sculpture, alongside experimenting with materials such as printmaking and textiles.

I love being able to bring together my interests in psychology and art while supporting artists to explore their own ideas and creativity.

Hi, I’m Hisba. I’ve been an artist at Artbox since 2011 and I now also volunteer in Studio Sessions and co-facilitate creative workshops.

I enjoy supporting other artists, sharing my ideas and inspiring people to try new things. I’ve co-facilitated workshops at Artbox, including opportunities to work as a paid artist-facilitator.
