Meleat

Meleat’s work combines technical skill with a deep engagement in her subjects. Inspired by artists such as Pablo Picasso and Paul Klee, and by the Cubist movement, she often reinterprets well-known artworks in her own distinctive style. Recently, she has begun exploring her Eritrean heritage, weaving cultural pride into her pieces. Behind the bold colours and sharp shapes in some of her work, Meleat always works with small paintbrushes or pastels, and dedicates lots of care and time to each piece. Her delicate and focused way of working creates a range of impressions in her works, some more spontaneous and some more meticulous, but all of them with underlying care and patience.

Meleat values the friendships and creative exchange at Artbox, and would love to exhibit more widely, volunteer in the studio, and continue to share her creativity - whether on canvas or through her passion for cooking and baking.
