Toyin, aka “The Mighty Wonder Woman”, is a prolific artist. She keeps track of how many pictures she’s made - it’s currently 8721. Her practice is wide-ranging, spanning embroidery, tapestry, pottery, sculpture, painting, and drawing. Inspiration comes from many sources - artists like Picasso, friends at Artbox, her family and heritage, and the TV shows, cartoons, and music she loves. Her work is distinguished by bold pattern and decoration, inventive text use, and the infamous “gel-pen watercolour technique”, where the glittery ink from gel pens is used to paint with.
Alongside her art, Toyin works as Artbox’s Studio Assistant, where her hard work, eagerness to learn, and loyalty enrich the studio community. She is both a driving creative force and a valued team member.
