Disrupted Person

Charcoal, ink and acrylic on paper

59.2 x 41.9cm

To create this piece I used charcoal and a mix of dark black ink and paint. For the background I used white paint and charcoal for blending and highlighting, sketching the shades using different shading techniques to show different contrasts in movements and show different moods.

For this piece I was inspired by Frank Auerbach and also different artists, looking up different techniques, and using contrast and a mix of different expressions, adding those techniques to my self-portrait.

This piece relates to my identity as I use different styles to reflect moodiness using darker tones of colours and blending them to make them abstract.

The themes I have explored are dark themes that dont have a lot of light, a dark aspect. I am interested in exploring moodier, contrasting artworks with dark tones that have strong feelings as this interests me more with the artwork alluding to the possible meanings and story behind it.

I like exploring and taking inspiration from other artists into my own work.

I enjoyed coming back to my artwork, and the process of adding to my work as time goes by. I enjoy shading as it relaxes me. What I like about shading is the process of putting in the contrast in my work.

This piece combines my interests in abstract expressionism and expressing emotions with self portraiture.

This piece represents feelings and a strong emotion, expressing my own feelings and other feelings.
