James has developed a highly distinct style since joining Artbox. His work is sparky and frenetic, richly layered and full of movement, and his greatest strength is the attention to and quality of line with which he makes his drawings. Normally his work derives from copying images from magazines - the stuff of the world is reflected in a strange and uncanny way through him. Recently, his source imagery has come from publications such as Country Living or World of Interiors - coveted, ornate antiques and luxury items are given James' surreal tweak.
