Over 2022-23 Toyin was paired with Indonesian curator Ignatia Nilu through the Art et al.X Ketamu partnership.

Toyin is a very prolific artist with a lot of energy and enthusiasm for art, she generates a lot of ideas and continually develops and pushes her work forward.

Toyin has a very bold, innovative and experimental style, demonstrated in many complex drawings and paintings. She incorporates many different artistic styles into her practice to produce books, paintings, drawings and three-dimensional assemblages. These are often created with gel pens that create very vibrant and complex compositions. Toyin creates stories with characters that become metaphors for the human condition. Many of these are observed from real situations and environments, which are then fictionalised and rendered into a variety of different outcomes.

Our resident ‘Wonder Woman’, Toyin has recently joined the Artbox team having been employed as our Studio Assistant. Toyin is very hardworking, keen to learn new skills and extremely loyal toward everyone in the studio, accentuating the feeling of community fostered here. Toyin is a real asset to our team.
